Test-Drive Meme: September 2012

This meme serves as a practice ground for both new and old players of Somarium to both get used to voicetest characters they may choose to play in the upcoming application cycle. Potential applicants are more than welcome to join in on the fun. It works like any open meme and the rules are simple.

1. Post with your character and their name and canon on the subject line.

1. Looks like the Ob Holm bazaar is having a sale. There's a few interesting trinkets here and there but maybe you need a little help deciding what to buy.

2. The dreamgate isn't accessible for the return trip back from Endouto to Ob Holm so it looks like you're stuck for a couple of days. Maybe it's time you gather some supplies or explore the area.

3. Someone just stole something off of you! Quick! Call for help or chase after them!

4. You know what's a good thing about that resort in Ob Holm? It's got a pretty cool oasis to chill at. Talk about a five star vacation.

5. Somehow you're taking a trip on Cid's airship over the desert. Whether to Somarium, Ob Holm or Endouto is up to you!

6. Reroll or go crazy and make something up!

[He points a few stalls down from where there were.]

[Rhyme walks towards the direction Beat pointed at and stops in front of the first stall that catches her attention. Even though they vastly differ in personalities and have only known each other for a few weeks, Rhyme has a good sense as to what Beat likes. Rhyme always assumes it to be a lucky coincidence however.]

[Beat is a little surprised to see that Rhyme had figured out exactly which chains he had been looking at but he doesn't dwell on that too much.]

Yeah, tha's it. [He reaches out to hold one before moving it aside to look at the others as well.] They all pretty tight but I ain't sure which one I wanna get.

[Rhyme watches Beat for a second before going through the chains herself. There's a lot in his style...but they look too close to the chains he's already wearing. Although she doesn't mean to, Rhyme's attention strays to a box of pins placed underneath the display.]

Hey, Beat, look!

[She takes one from the box and holds it up for him to see: it's a gray pin with a stylized 'B' on it.]

Doesn't this look like those pins from Wild Boar? [Rhyme hesitates, her hand holding the pin dropping a little.] Um...you still remember Wild Boar, right?

[Wild Boar had always been Beat's brand of choice, so even if he'd been stuck in Somarium for a while now, it wasn't as if he'd forgotten about it completely.]

Yeah, kinda looks like 'em. Didn't think they'd be sellin' something like those here.

[Rhyme beams, delighted he remembers. She fishes out the 'R' pin.]

We can get matching pins! [Rhyme frowns.]...or is that too lame?

[Beat simply stares at her for a moment, but it's not long before he lets out an amused snort at the idea.]

Naw. It ain't lame at all. [He lets out his hand.] C'mon. Gimme that 'B' one.

[Rhyme's frown turns into a sheepish smile as she hands him the pin. He quickly pays for both it and the 'R' pin before Beat can beat her to it. She doesn't put it on immediately though, hiding it in the palm of her hand instead. It feels nostalgic.]

So, um--the pendants! There's so many of them. You should at least narrow down your choices.
