Test-Drive Meme: September 2012

This meme serves as a practice ground for both new and old players of Somarium to both get used to voicetest characters they may choose to play in the upcoming application cycle. Potential applicants are more than welcome to join in on the fun. It works like any open meme and the rules are simple.

1. Looks like the Ob Holm bazaar is having a sale. There's a few interesting trinkets here and there but maybe you need a little help deciding what to buy.

2. The dreamgate isn't accessible for the return trip back from Endouto to Ob Holm so it looks like you're stuck for a couple of days. Maybe it's time you gather some supplies or explore the area.

3. Someone just stole something off of you! Quick! Call for help or chase after them!

4. You know what's a good thing about that resort in Ob Holm? It's got a pretty cool oasis to chill at. Talk about a five star vacation.

5. Somehow you're taking a trip on Cid's airship over the desert. Whether to Somarium, Ob Holm or Endouto is up to you!

6. Reroll or go crazy and make something up!

Now their skulls litter the halls of the Red Keep, as a testament of a world that thinks the time of dragons is done.

[You remind him of a rather... newhatched dragonet. Yet you seem to be more than capable of handling yourself, despite the meddling of those humans.]

It is true, due to my size people scream bloody murder simply due to my size.

[Oh, see those people? Yeah, they're wary and wanting to bolt at any moment.]

But I also have people back from whence I came that did not fear me. Those are the best sorts of people, in my opinion.

I've met a couple of humans who were all right back home, but most of them pretty much hate dragons.

Guess it's kind of a universal thing.

Their enemies. Those that had stolen from the dragons things that were not theirs to steal. Usurpers.

[ him stealing something? no, they're not in an operating room! instead, he's outside. however, his dove is another story because archimedes is a naughty little thing; it's his bird that stole something, most probably rather shiny. that's why when he runs away with the item in his tiny little claws, medic raises a brow and looks at it. ]

Must have been pretty tough if they took down all the dragons...but if I had been there I would have just roasted them.

I imagine so. Simply speaking would catch many offguard.

It is not so much hate back home, but fear that we might eat them, even though it is a rather ridiculous idea, and very unfounded.

[Okay, so at least not really. Just the few small ferals that might take a human or two if they are really, really hungry.]

However I am still much in agreement, it does seem to transcend all sorts of worlds.

Exactly, why would anyone dare do so? I would much prefer cows or sheep better than I would them. Or even a fresh-caught tunnie would be better.

[And with this, he gives him a small nod of his head. Then again, considering his size...]

You know what's good? Chinese takeout. [dead serious. go go fourth wall.] The spicier the better.

Same here. Always nice to see another dragon around—especially in a place like this.

[well that was neat. definitely not something he had heard before.]

The Chinese style of cooking is simply the best, I could not agree with you more, especially with all those vegetables and seasonings that they include along with the meat, those savory smells that entice and make you want to eat it all while taking your time to taste it, truly taste it.

[A wistful sigh. He so does love that sort of cooking.]

It is indeed very nice to know that one is not alone in this world amongst all the humans in this world. I shall hope we can speak at leisure and compare the worlds from whence we are come. I think it would be an interesting endeavour, to say the least.

Man, you take talking about food to an art.

But I'm cool with that. I've been to a few different worlds before, but the only ones with dragons I knew about were the ones in the Dragon Realm.

[plus he seems like a cool elder dragon. not like most of the others.]

The Chinese way of cooking is a beautiful form of art that I do love very much. Compared to what I used to have before, it is the grandest thing one could ever conceive simply with everything that deals with their food.

[Yep. All of that is a BIG step up from live cattle, sheep or goat that is unseasoned and bloody. Though he did love guts when he was a fresh-hatched dragonet.]

I can only say that this would be my first time in such a world, so you would have more experience about this than I would. Still, I come from a world where there are many, many dragons, Spyro. It is only sad that I have not come across a world like your own, for I am quite sure I would have loved it.

There is now a somewhat large dragon in the oasis who seems to be sunning himself instead of taking to the shade. He had been looking at the bazaar before, and spoke with another one of his kind, before taking off and looking for a place from which to drink.

After having had his fill of that sweet-tasting, thirst-quenching water, he has taken it upon himself to rest and get as much warmth of the sun as he can.

He is comfortably resting on the ground, wings folded and legs neatly tucked beneath him. All safe for his tail, which is just languidly swishing about from side-to-side in the air.

Dare you approach him?

My world was filled with a ton of them, too. Actually it's pretty much the only place. All the dragons moved there and pretty much called it home.

[...okay move isn't the right term, but whatever. Spyro and history—he got the basics.]

But I'm sure you would have had a blast. If there were a portal or something here, I could even take you to Dragon Shores. That's where I was supposed to go, but somehow ended up in this world instead.

[The best part about the desert oasis isn't the oasis, but the desert itself. Tali seems to be at ease when she's watching it, the winds and how alive it is, even for a desert, something that's supposed to be lacking in life. As a result, there's an alien in an envirosuit standing at some sort of perfect overlook in Ob Holm, facing out to the desert, and apparently thinking out loud.]

This isn't so bad...

A Khaleesi dares.
Daenerys walks quietly towards him, quiet, respectful steps, though she does not slouch, or show traces of her fear. She has spoken to another, and perhaps this one can also speak.

Drogon hisses from her shoulder, for he is used to being the largest and this one is quite larger than her fierce child. Viserion blinks sleepily from her arms and Rhaegal flies ahead, circling above them before Dany stops.

I feel closer to dragons than I would even my own people. I have a woman's body, but I am a dragon even so. The same hot blood runs in my veins.

Without much sign of fear, Dany kneels and fills her own casket with water, glad she had some with her when she arrived. Hearing all the people in the market was not always easy, she had to carry water from time to time, not to mention that outfit she had to wear..

Now with Drogo here, she settles for some of her old clothing, the leather and tough hide of a Dothraki Khaleesi, necklaces of bone. To her it means comfort.

"You are beautiful." She says at last, glancing over with a small smile. "My children are jealous of your size. They are eager to grow themselves."

Could you? While I awoke these dragons from their eggs, I confess I know little of them other than how they like their meat cooked and their moods.
